We are celebrating Easter weekend on the farm with weapons for the kids and cheap decor for mom.
Easter traditions are looking different for us this year- probably like most of you too. After loosing my shizzz with homeschooling this week I offered up a game of hide and seek to avoid the last journal entry for the day until dad got home.
Not sure how my 6 year old thought he would fit in there, but he seemed to investigate my swim suit drawer as a possible refuge. Amongst the sun faded, elastic garb he found my cheesy stash of Easter cheer that was going to fill his basket on Easter morning.
He happily came out of his hiding spot to show me all these treasures before I even reached 49,50! So now am I lying and saying the Easter bunny was ate by our dog? IDK. That’s a game plan to be discussed at another time, like 11pm Easter Eve. Which is right now.
After that deal, I got the Easter weekend kicked off with some safety lessons and handed the kids knives. We are doing what we can here with pantry cookin’ so Carrot Cake Cupcakes using canned carrots were our golden egg for an Easter treat and bonus lesson on how similar our our fingers look like a carrot on the chopping block.
And you know when your kitchen gets to the point where it’s going to need all the cancer causing cleaners and a good nights rest to tackle, that’s when you take out something else. Dying Easter eggs.
We have a bit of an egg shortage happening right now so they each colored 3 eggs and used the rest of the dye to destroy their clothes.
My son got pretty into it and drew “army guy faces” in crayon on all his.
My daughter had fun stirring eggs around but then later peeled all of the shells off her eggs. Needless to say, we will know whose eggs are whose, we have the bald army dudes and the streakers. Alls well that ends well!
Filling my own cup.
The kids were over this scene, which was fine by me because I need a little R&R.
I definitely ate a few of these before the kids found me then they joined in and helped with the frosting.
We are celebrating Easter at home, and despite missing our family and common Easter traditions I’m going to decorate like half the county is coming, set the table with stemware, make a big ham and wipe the remains of a chocolate bunny off my kids face all day.
I buzzed into our local Dollar Tree this week. This little array of items slipped into the cart under the “essentials” category. C’mon, you can’t blame me, I’m going batty without burning my creative flame on work for my photo clients so this is all I got to work with here.
What a fun weekend at home, sharing the things we love about Easter on a simple level, at home, with each other!
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! Now, go on and OD on ham, jelly beans and naps!
